By the Sea on the Boardwalk…save the date, September 27th, 1:00 pm, Women's ministries luncheon.

The Parish Picnic will be on Sunday, Sept. 21st, 1:00-4:00 pm. Food, swimming, camaraderie. Bring a salad or dessert to share, beverage of your choice. The main dish (hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs) will be provided as will ice, plates, cutlery, etc. Sign-up sheet will be in the parish hall with directions and map. The parents of Stephen North are graciously offering their home and grounds to us (a beautiful location close to the church), 123 Birdsall Ave. Give us a call at 530-885-2316 if you have any questions or need more information.

Gathering Inn needs financial assistance to remain open until their major fund raiser in December. Can you help? Contributions can go to TGI (The Gathering Inn), PO Box 297, Roseville, Ca 95678

Adult Evening Bible Study. We'll begin again Wednesday, October 1st. As in the past, we'll meet for a simple supper at 6:00 pm., concluding our study time at 8:00 pm. The study this fall is The Gospel of John. The books are here! You can pick them up from the office.

St. Francis Day Blessing of the Animals: Saturday, October 4th at 10:00 am. Yes! Bring your animals. The service will be held outside, in the play-yard, and will include appropriate and fun singing, lessons, blessing, Eucharist, and of course, refreshments after the service.

VOCARE: October 10, 11 & 12. We are hosting this diocesan young adult event and I will be participating as one of two spiritual directors. VOCARE is a renewal weekend for young adults aged 19 -30 trying to listen for God's call in their life. The weekend is prepared by a team of young adults and mentors. We will have our regular services that Sunday, with hospitality hour on the porch. I'm looking forward to meeting and interacting with this group and ask for your prayers as they begin their preparations.

St. Luke's Sunday! October 19th. Celebrate with Evensong, a Hymn sing and pot-luck, 5:00 pm.

Rev. Susan's House Blessing/Open House is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2:00 - 5:00 pm with the blessing to take place at 3:00 pm.

St. Luke's will host The Gathering Inn the second Sunday of every month. Everybody mark your calendars and plan to help. Again we would like the main Cooks to set your plans and sign-up on the notice posted in the Narthex. (Next date, May 11) For more information call Dina Durfee 530-888-8402.

    Welcome to St. Luke's

    Welcome to St. Luke's Church! Visitors, please sign our guest book as you leave and pick up a copy of our newsletter. Childcare is available downstairs in the adjacent building. An usher can direct you. We gather at Christ's Table. All are welcome to fully participate in Holy Communion. If you do not wish to receive communion, please come forward, cross your arms, and receive a blessing. Join us for "Hospitality" in the Parish Hall after the services.

    Rev. Susan will not be in the office Tuesday through mid-Thursday afternoon this week for one last continuing education opportunity (for this year). Roger Barrett will lead Morning Prayer Wednesday a.m.

    We have all been asked to participate in a Diocesan communications survey. This can be done via the internet, by paper and pen or pencil. The surveys are available as you leave. If responding via internet, you only need the cover letter.

    On the Boardwalk---Picnic by the Sea: The annual Women's Tea is a picnic this year. Fun, games, great prizes, drawings, good food!! September 27th, 1:00 pm, $15.00, Please make reservations early. You may sign up in the office, or call Beth McMurtrie at 530-637-5144. Pay early or at the door. We need to know how many are coming!
